A Tiny Bit of Magic and Mischief for Spooky Season
Every once in a while, it feels good to step outside the usual rhythm in the studio and just…play.
I’m part of a fabulous community of jewelers over at the Slowmade Collective, and Christine hosts a monthly creative challenge. This was my first time joining in, and honestly, it was such a fun switch-up. It felt good to stretch a bit, try something different, and make a piece simply because it sounded fun — no pressure, just play.
This month’s theme? Something Spooky!
And if you know me, you already know this is totally my thing!
Halloween, witches, spooky movies, fog, mist, the smell of leaves and woodsmoke — I love it all. So instead of designing with a particular collection or customer in mind, I was able to create something just for me. Just for fun!
The result? Good Trouble
A sterling silver and #8 turquoise Witch Hat brooch! A little charm, a touch of whimsy and just the perfect amount of witchy.
Sometimes creativity looks like building new collections and refining designs. Sometimes it looks like letting yourself wander off the trail and make something simply because it makes you smile. This piece did exactly that.
Here’s to spooky season, leaning into coloring outside the lines, and to remembering to create for the pure joy of it.
Kinda cute, don’t you think? 🧙✨
